Surf & Turf Tacos

Ingredients:

For the steak:

  • 300g beef sirloin or flank steak (halal)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the shrimp:

  • 300g shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For assembly:

  • 8 small tortillas (corn or flour)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese
  • 1/2 cup diced onions
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • Lime wedges for garnish

Directions:

  1. Marinate the steak: Rub the steak with olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Let it marinate for 15 minutes.
  2. Cook the steak: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and sear the steak for 3-4 minutes per side or until it reaches your desired doneness. Let it rest for 5 minutes, then slice thinly.
  3. Season the shrimp: Toss the shrimp with olive oil, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Cook the shrimp: In the same skillet, cook the shrimp for 2-3 minutes per side until pink and cooked through.
  5. Warm the tortillas: Heat the tortillas in a dry skillet or over an open flame until warm and slightly charred.
  6. Assemble the tacos: Fill each tortilla with steak slices, shrimp, diced onions, and shredded cheese. Sprinkle with cilantro and drizzle with lime juice.
