Steak Sandwich

Ingredients:

For the Steak:

1 lb ribeye steak, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
For the Onions:

2 medium onions, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon sugar
Pinch of salt
For the Sandwich:

4 hoagie rolls or baguettes, sliced lengthwise
1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
Arugula or lettuce (optional)
Directions:

Prepare the Steak:

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Season the steak slices with Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
Sear the steak in the skillet for 3-4 minutes until browned and cooked to your desired doneness. Set aside.
Caramelize the Onions:

Heat butter and olive oil in a separate skillet over medium heat. Add the onions, sugar, and a pinch of salt.
Cook the onions, stirring occasionally, for 15-20 minutes until they are golden and caramelized. Set aside.
Assemble the Sandwich:

Lightly toast the hoagie rolls. Spread a mixture of mayonnaise and Dijon mustard on the inside of each roll.
Layer the cooked ribeye steak slices on the bottom half of the roll. Top with caramelized onions, shredded cheese, and optional arugula or lettuce.
Close the sandwich, slice in half, and serve warm!
