Ingredients
- 1 (14.75 oz) can pink salmon, drained and flaked
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
- 1/4 cup finely chopped green bell pepper (optional)
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs or crushed saltine crackers
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions
- Prepare the Salmon Mixture:
In a large bowl, combine the flaked salmon, chopped onion, bell pepper (if using), breadcrumbs (or crackers), beaten egg, mayonnaise, lemon juice, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and salt. Mix until well combined. - Shape the Patties:
Using your hands, form the salmon mixture into 6 to 8 patties, about 2 to 3 inches in diameter. - Heat the Oil:
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. - Fry the Patties:
Once the oil is hot, carefully place the salmon patties in the skillet. Fry for about 3 to 4 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Be careful when flipping to keep the patties intact. - Drain and Serve:
Once the patties are cooked, transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil. - Serve:
Serve the salmon patties warm with your favorite sides like coleslaw, cornbread, or a remoulade dipping sauce.
