4 large russet potatoes
1 quart vegetable oil (for frying)
Salt to taste
For the Toppings:

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
6 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled
1 cup cooked and shredded chicken
1/2 cup chopped green onions (optional)
Optional Sauces:

Ranch dressing
Spicy mayo
Barbecue sauce
Instructions

  1. Prepare the Potatoes:

Slice potatoes into thick, long shapes to mimic the size and shape of a baguette.
Soak the potato slices in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
Drain and pat the potatoes completely dry with paper towels.

  1. Cook the Bacon and Chicken:

Fry or bake the bacon until crispy, then crumble into pieces. Set aside.
Cook and shred the chicken. Season with salt, pepper, and optional garlic powder.

  1. Heat the Oil:

Heat the vegetable oil in a large, deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C).

  1. Fry the Potatoes:

Fry the baguette-shaped potato pieces in batches for about 5–7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Sprinkle with salt while hot.

  1. Assemble the Dish:

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Arrange the fried potato “baguettes” on a large, oven-safe tray.
Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese generously over the potatoes.
Add crumbled bacon and shredded chicken evenly on top.

  1. Melt the Cheese:

Place the tray in the oven and bake for 5–7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
For extra crispness, broil for 1–2 minutes.

  1. Garnish and Serve:

Garnish with chopped green onions for a pop of color and flavor.
Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauces on the side.
Pro Tips:
Cheese Blend: Mix cheddar with mozzarella or pepper jack for an extra cheesy experience.
Spice It Up: Add jalapeños or chili flakes for a spicy kick.
Make It Smoky: Use smoked paprika to season the chicken for added depth.
This dish is sure to be a hit at any gathering or game night!
