โ— 1 cup boiling water

For the Chocolate Frosting:
โ— 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
โ— 3 ยฝ cups powdered sugar
โ— ยฝ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
โ— ยฝ cup heavy cream
โ— 2 tsp vanilla extract

 Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Add Wet Ingredients: Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes. Stir in boiling water (the batter will be thin).
Bake the Cake: Pour batter evenly into pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes in pans, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
Make the Frosting: Beat butter until creamy. Gradually mix in powdered sugar and cocoa. Add heavy cream and vanilla, beating until smooth and fluffy.
Assemble the Cake: Place one cake layer on a serving plate, spread frosting on top, then place the second layer and frost the top and sides.
