Ingredients
For the Cake:
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
1 cup whole milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup boiling water
For the Fudge Frosting:
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
3. Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
4. Stir in the boiling water (the batter will be thin).
5. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
6. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
7. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
8. For the frosting, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder, alternating with milk, and mix until smooth. Stir in the vanilla extract.
9. Once the cakes are cool, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of frosting on top, then add the second layer and frost the top and sides of the cake.
