Ingredients

For the Cupcakes:

1 ¼ cups (160g) all-purpose flour
1 tbsp cocoa powder
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
½ cup (120ml) buttermilk
½ cup (120ml) vegetable oil
¾ cup (150g) granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
½ tsp white vinegar
1 tbsp red food coloring

For the Cream Cheese Frosting:

8 oz (225g) cream cheese, softened
½ cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
2 cups (240g) powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Cupcakes

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a cupcake tin with liners.
In a bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.

In another bowl, whisk sugar, oil, egg, vanilla, and vinegar until smooth.
Add buttermilk and red food coloring, mixing well.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until combined.

Divide batter evenly into cupcake liners (about ¾ full).
Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Let cupcakes cool completely before frosting.

Step 2: Make the Frosting

Beat cream cheese and butter until fluffy.
Gradually add powdered sugar and mix until smooth.
Add vanilla extract and mix until creamy.

Step 3: Assemble & Serve

Pipe or spread cream cheese frosting on cooled cupcakes.
Sprinkle with red velvet crumbs for decoration.
