Gummy Glazed Donuts

Ingredients:

2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
½ cup warm milk (110°F)
¼ cup granulated sugar
¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
1 egg
½ tsp salt
½ tsp vanilla extract
Vegetable oil for frying
For the Gummy Glaze:

1 cup gummy candies (assorted flavors)
2 tbsp water
½ cup powdered sugar
Directions:

In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add melted butter, egg, vanilla extract, and the yeast mixture. Stir until a soft dough forms.
Knead the dough for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about ½-inch thickness. Cut out donuts using a donut cutter or a round cookie cutter with a smaller cutter for the center.
Place cut-out donuts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
Heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry donuts in batches for about 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown. Drain on a wire rack lined with paper towels.
For the gummy glaze, melt the gummy candies with water in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second intervals, stirring until smooth. Mix in powdered sugar until a glaze forms.
Dip each donut into the warm gummy glaze and let it set before serving.
