Layered Chocolate Dream Cake
Ingredients:
For the Biscuit Base:
• 4 eggs
• 180g sugar
• 100ml water
• 130g flour
• 1 tsp baking powder
• 2-3 tbsp cocoa powder
For the Cream Filling:
• 2 eggs
• 50g sugar
• 150ml condensed milk
• Vanilla extract (to taste)
• 3 tbsp starch
• 250ml milk
• 250g butter, softened
For the Impregnation:
• 150ml water
• 2 tbsp condensed milk
For the Chocolate Glaze:
• 3 tbsp cocoa powder
• 3 tbsp sugar
• 4 tbsp sour cream
• 50g butter
Directions:
Biscuit Base:
1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
2. Beat the eggs and sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Add the water and mix well.
4. Sift the flour, baking powder, and cocoa powder together, then fold gently into the egg mixture until combined.
5. Pour the batter into a greased and floured cake pan.
6. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let the cake cool completely.
Cream Filling:
1. Whisk the eggs, sugar, condensed milk, and starch in a saucepan until smooth.
2. Gradually add the milk while stirring constantly.
3. Cook the mixture over medium heat, stirring until it thickens.
4. Once thickened, let the cream filling cool.
5. Beat the softened butter until creamy and smooth.
6. Gradually add the cooled milk mixture and vanilla, and continue beating until smooth and fluffy.
Assemble the Cake:
1. Slice the cooled biscuit base horizontally into 2 layers.
2. Mix water and condensed milk together for the impregnation.
3. Brush each layer with the impregnation mixture.
4. Spread the cream filling between the layers and on top.
Chocolate Glaze:
1. In a saucepan, combine cocoa powder, sugar, sour cream, and butter.
2. Heat the mixture, stirring until smooth and glossy.
3. Pour the chocolate glaze over the assembled cake.
Chill and Serve:
1. Refrigerate the cake for a few hours or overnight to allow the layers to set.
2. Once chilled, slice and serve.
