Old-Fashioned Pancakes

Old-Fashioned Pancakes
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 tablespoon white sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 cups milk
3 tablespoons butter, melted
1 large egg
Instructions:
Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
Make a Well: Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients.
Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, and egg.
Combine Wet and Dry: Pour the wet ingredients into the well in the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing the batter.
Rest the Batter: Let the batter sit for about 5 minutes to relax the gluten, which helps create fluffier pancakes.
Cook the Pancakes:
Heat a lightly greased griddle or frying pan over medium heat.
Scoop about 1/4 cup of batter for each pancake onto the griddle.
Cook for 2-3 minutes, until bubbles appear on the surface and the edges begin to set.
Flip the pancakes and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, or until golden brown.
Serve: Serve the pancakes hot with your favorite toppings such as butter, syrup, fruit, or whipped cream.
Tips:
For extra fluffy pancakes, swap the milk for buttermilk.
Enhance the flavor by adding a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the batter.
If the batter is too thick, add more milk, a tablespoon at a time.
Avoid overcrowding the pan, cooking the pancakes in batches for even cooking.
